The Southeast Metro Denver Kiwanis Club is a group of community members in the Southeast Denver area. We like to get together during happy hour, have fun and connect with our awesome city by giving back and making a difference in the lives of local children. We do this by volunteering our time and sharing our talents.

Kiwanis SEMD Club is a member of the Kiwanis Rocky Mountain District. The Rocky Mountain District has 18 Divisions that span Colorado, Western Nebraska, & Wyoming. For more than 30 years, the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Foundation has devoted its energy to passionately advocating for the needs of children. They have several projects that include Ronald McDonald House in Denver and Southern Colorado, Rose Hill House at St. Mary's Medical Center, Colorado Feeding Kids, Stars of Tomorrow and much more. Meet a few of our amazing volunteers
Gail Coombs - President
Moved to Colorado from the Midwest as a physical therapist. She is a founding member of the SEMD Kiwanis Club and became President on Oct 1, 2023. Gail has been actively involved with local Kiwanis clubs for over 14 years. During that time she was Lieutenant Governor of the Denver Division of the Rocky Mountain Kiwanis District for three years. Gail has recently become President of Colorado Feeding Kids, a local nonprofit.
Melissa - Past President 2021-2023
After moving from Minnesota to Colorado in 2010, mutual friends of ours introduced my husband Keith and I to Kiwanis. I have made great friendships through Kiwanis and have been able to give back to our community in many different ways. As President of the DTC Club, one of my goals was to establish an evening Kiwanis Club. In 2019 the Southeast Metro Denver Club was formed. I served on the Kiwanis DTC board from 2017-2020 and was President 2018-2019. I believe that every child has an opportunity to be great!
Mary - Editor in Chief of Newsletter
I have been a member of Kiwanis since 2005 and have served as President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor, and Liaison for four different Kiwanis-sponsored student community service organizations including; I Am Academy Builders and K-Kids, Powell MS Builders, and Rock Canyon HS Key Club. I have a heart and passion for service and love the Kiwanis message, " Kids need Kiwanis." Our outreach to children in need around the world makes a difference, "one child, one community at a time." My other passions are family (we have three grown children) and travel and I love the adventure of seeing other people and other cultures around the world.
Glenn - Treasurer
Glen is a Colorado native raised in Denver, Colorado. He joined Kiwanis in April of 2023 due to his passion for community service and his heart for children. Due to Glen’s appreciation and support for law enforcement, emergency services, and community engagement, he has actively participated in various Citizen’s Academies since 2015, for Police, Fire Rescue, Denver CERT, Civic Engagement, and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He enjoys getting to know the other members of the club(s) and has actively participated in this year’s Pints and Pinots, Parker Days, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Speaker Event, and Happy Hours. He volunteered to be Board Treasurer for the club starting in October 2023.
Keith Schupp - Past Treasurer
My wife Melissa and I were fortunate to accept a job relocation to Colorado back in 2010. After a few years of reacquainting myself with the landscape, I was ready to re-focus my efforts by volunteering and serving others. With the encouragement of a fellow Kiwanian, I joined the Kiwanis Club of DTC in 2013, and served as Club President in 2015-2016. I am happy to say that we have a great group of members, we love to have fun while we are serving others and we accomplish many great things in the community. I am happy to be a charter member of the Southeast Metro Denver Club and proud to be a Kiwanian!
